Love social deduction, negotiation, and politics? This year, UKGE is hosting a megagame called The Generalissimo is Dead, a great introduction to the megagaming hobby. If this is something you’ve been meaning to check out - or if you’ve never heard of megagaming, but are intrigued by the idea of a 40-player game of emergent narrative - read on!

Step into the chaotic world of Yugenya, where the sudden death of the formidable Generalissimo has plunged the nation into disarray. Inspired by the aftermath of Stalin's demise, The Generalissimo is Dead invites you to navigate the intricate web of politics and power in a darkly humorous setting.

With rave reviews from Edinburgh to Sydney, The Generalissimo is Dead is a game of collaborative storytelling and strategic maneuvering. As a player, you step into the shoes of a pivotal figure within the state of Yugenya, each possessing your own ambitions, alliances, and schemes. From seasoned ministers to unexpected contenders, every participant holds a key role in shaping the destiny of the nation.

The game mechanics are easy to learn but difficult to master. Armed with a hand of playing cards, you navigate the treacherous waters of political intrigue, leveraging your actions to further your own aspirations while simultaneously thwarting the plans of your rivals. No single player holds all the cards necessary for absolute power, fostering an environment ripe for negotiation, manipulation, and shifting allegiances.

With so many players all trying to influence each other, megagames organically generate complex, interwoven narratives, and "The Generalissimo is Dead" is no exception. Players forge and break alliances, vie for public opinion, and pull the levers of bureaucracy and force alike, all at the same time. With so many plans in motion at once, knowledge and negotiation are vital, but the outcome will always be more convoluted than you expect.

Whether you're a seasoned strategist or a newcomer to the world of megagaming, The Generalissimo is Dead offers an immersive and unforgettable experience. As you immerse yourself in the intrigue and drama of Yugenya, you'll find yourself drawn into a world where power is fleeting, loyalty is a commodity, and the only certainty is uncertainty.

In previous games we have seen a functional government fall due to a film director being snubbed, a coup stopped in its tracks by an overly curious Senior Auditor and a newscaster kick off a revolution. Each player belongs to a ministry (or corporation for a select few outside influences), and although each ministry works together, they might not all have the same goals, and they must all of course follow orders from the Central Committee.

Join us as we embark on a journey through the corridors of power, where the fate of a nation hangs in the balance and the only rule is that there are no rules. Will you seize the reins of power, or will you be swept aside by the tide of history? There’s only one way to find out - grab your tickets now.
