Are children welcome?
Under 18’s are welcome as long as accompanied by and supervised by an adult - be aware though that the types of games usually brought to modern board game meets can be too complex for people under the age of around 12 - if you are thinking of bringing someone under the age of 12 please message an admin for advice.
Can I bring my own games?
Please do, in fact the group kind of relies on at least some of the attendees bringing games as the number of games available to publicly borrow and play will be limited. Whilst the group is likely to focus on more modern board and card games there are no rules on what games you can bring - if you want to play chess / gin / dominos etc and have like-minded other players who want to play that is fine. Please note that no gambling will be allowed.
What to expect on the night?
Firstly…. Hopefully a fun night!
organisers will be on site to welcome people from 7pm. 7.30pm is the official start time at which point we will do a ‘roll call’ (don’t worry, this isn’t people introducing themselves - this is where those who have brought games can let everyone know what they have brought so everyone knows what is potentially on offer). After this everyone forms their own groups on a game they would like to play together. Organisers will be on hand to ensure everyone has got a game. If you are going to be a little late please let us know in this group and we will do our best to reserve you a spot on a game, however if you are later than 8pm this may not be possible.
Are there any ‘club rules’?
We are all here to have a great time playing games and perhaps even meet new people / form new friendships. There are only really 3 ‘rules’ to consider.
Respect each other - we would like this group to be as inclusive as possible - regardless of background / age / disability etc. Any abuse will not be tolerated and please let us know if you feel you have been subject to abuse / discrimination so we can do something about it.
Respect each other’s property - please take care with each other’s games when playing them and if you want to play a game someone else has brought but that they are not running please ask first.
Respect the venue - please respect this by taking care of their furniture and only consuming refreshments bought on site.
Any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to ask!
Happy Gaming!
