DR Congo: Hope out of Horror

Ragnar Brothers Launch New Game

UK game designers and publishers 'Ragnar Brothers' are set to launch a new game at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, NEC from May 30th to June 1st this year.

'DRCongo: Hope out of Horror' is the follow up to their successful recent games 'Steam Donkey' and 'Promised Land 1250-587 BC' - an eclectic mixture of game themes all linked by solid decision making game mechanics.

'Ragnar Brothers' consist of three friends who have been designing games in their spare time since the early 1980s - the full catalogue can be found at www.ragnarbrothers.co.uk and all of the games have individual pages on www.boardgamegeek.com This new design centres on the economic regeneration of the Democratic Republic of Congo and was inspired by a desire to see this once great nation rise from the chaos and destruction of the last 60+ years - it has elements of cooperation but is still about one player beating the others and interestingly for a 'big' game has solitaire rules as well.

This game was funded via Kickstarter and over 400 of the 1000 copy run have been sold already! The Ragnar Brothers (Steve, Gary and Phil) are hoping for more sales at UK Games Expo and then later in the year at the Essen Spiel Fair. Rules are in English and German and there will be Spanish, French and Polish rules posted on the Boardgamegeek page.

Something of a Ragnar Brothers trademark is the producton of a full colour cloth map to supplement the standard board  map in the game - numerous of their previous designs have such maps and early games were based around them - 'History of the World' was the first of several to follow - now they are regularly requested by gamers!!
