UKGE Sponsors Airecon
Expo supports grass roots event
UK Games Expo today announces sponsorship of Airecon.
Airecon is a games convention that is held on the Friday and Saturday of 21st and 22nd October 2016 in Bradford. (Jubilee Centre, Jermyn Street, Bradford).
Airecon describes itself as an Analog Gaming convention. As it says on their website:
"Analog gaming encompasses all sorts of game types, most commonly board or tabletop games, RPGs, card games, war gaming, social deduction even some computer games. The common theme with games played at AireCon is that they require other people to play with, that's one of the reasons we started AireCon."
Airecon began as a tiny event in held in the house of one of the shows organisers, Mark in August 2015. In April 2016 the 2nd Airecon was attended by 250 gamers. This 3rd event will be the first to be attended by games publishers (Stuff by Bez and Medusa Games) as well as the games retailer Travelling Man.
UK Games Expo is proud of its status as the UK's biggest and best Hobby games convention. We never forget, however, that we once began as a small idea in the heads of 2 or 3 of us. In those early years many companies helped us get the show off the ground and in addition it was the support in the form of sponsorship by Mayfair Games, Esdevium Games and Hawk Wargames in particular that made the move to the Hilton and in time to the NEC possible. We hope now that we can in turn help build other events as it helps all areas of the Hobby Games community in the UK.
We believe that the existence of conventions of all shapes and sizes is vital to the growth and expansion of the Hobby Games Industry. This is why we actively support other conventions. We came across Airecon when Mark volunteered at UKGE this year and decided to give it support to hopefully grow and flourish.
