UK Games Expo VAT Registered
What does this mean to you?
UK Games Expo has regsitered for VAT from 1st February 2014. This had been forced upon us by the growth of the convention. This is good news in that it means Expo is growing and getting more trade bookings and we hope more attendance but it does have implications. But don't worry - Tony and Richard have made decisions that will mean this change will not impact on Traders or attendees.
Traders who have already paid part or all of their stand fees pay no additional tax in 2014.
Traders who have not yet paid for their stand are VAT registered and can reclaim their VAT will be just reclaim the VAT that is now due.
Traders who cannot reclaim their VAT might be worried that they end up paying more. Well fear not because this year we will honour our agreement with you and we will pay the VAT due on any bookings agreed before 27th January 2014.
What then about the gamers, the visitors, the "ordinary punter"? You might be worried that we now plan to add VAT to your ticket costs. Again you need not fear. UK Games Expo is paying the VAT. the prices we already quoted on flyers, adverts and our website are now inclusive of VAT.
So yes we are VAT registered and now one of us needs to invest a few ranks in the skill "VAT accounting" but we hope we have taken steps that ensure that both Trader and Visitors are no worse off then they were.
Now can anyone tell me if VAT inspectors have a 10 foot reach and if they have combat reflexes or not?
